About Me
Hi there! I'm Jasmin McMechan (she/her).
I'm a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a passion for helping individuals and people in intimate relationships reclaim their sex lives and build connected, loving partnerships!
I am a settler of Irish, Swiss, and German descent living uninivited on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territories of the tmixʷ (Syilx okanagan), snʕickstx tmxʷúlaʔxʷ (Sinixt) and ɁamakɁis (Ktunaxa) peoples, as well as many other diverse Indigenous persons, including the Métis.
I am an approved provider for the First Nations Health Authority.
A Bit About Jasmin
My counselling style has been described as warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental. I strive to hold space for what is challenging while still making room for laughter and playfulness. I am dedicated to providing a supportive space for you and your partner(s) to explore and develop your sense of self, to deepen your commitment to your values, and to strengthen your connection to the world around you.
My wish for our time together is that you feel you have found a safe space to explore the unique parts of yourself that make you who you are and that you feel supported to greet these parts with compassion, curiosity, and above all, love.
I draw from several different therapeutic modalities in my work, particularly somatic, relational, and attachment-based theories. My practice is embodied, sex positive, pleasure focused, attachment informed, trauma informed, and anti-oppressive.
All services are gender and 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming, kink aware, sex work positive, body neutral, and welcoming of all relationship structures.
Why Sex and Relationship Therapy?
Like many people, I came into adulthood with harmful and limiting beliefs about my sexuality. These beliefs held me back and left me confused about how to embrace and live my sexual truth. It has been a place of great growth, fulfillment, and joy to begin to change these beliefs and to start to better know and love my sexual self. In my work, I love nothing more than to offer a safe and supportive space for people to explore who they are as sexual beings so that they can bring more of their authentic self into the world. This journey is a lifetime of exciting (and sometimes challenging) evolution!
Similarly, my own experiences of relationships over the course of my life have taught me that we all need our significant other(s) to offer us a secure base so that we can truly flourish in our lives. I believe that we are all worthy of secure, loving partnership(s) and I am honored to offer a space to people who are doing relational healing with each other in real time! This is where lasting change happens.
